Job Description

Chesapeake, VA - Are you passionate about helping people access safe, stable housing? Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Leasing & Housing Specialist to support property operations and resident services.

In this role, you will manage leasing activities by coordinating unit availability, reviewing applications, interviewing tenants, and maintaining accurate files. You’ll determine rental rates based on financial assessments, collect rent, and ensure compliance with HUD and housing regulations. Responsibilities also include conducting property inspections, coordinating maintenance requests, processing move-outs, and supporting residents through home visits and referrals to social services. You’ll also prepare reports and documentation, assist the public, and maintain organized records while supporting team needs during busy periods, utilizing property management software such as Yardi.

The ideal candidate has 3–4 years of office experience (housing preferred), including experience working with low- to moderate-income populations. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Yardi is preferred, along with knowledge of marketing and sales techniques. A strong understanding of housing regulations and property management principles, combined with excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, will set you up for success.
