Machinist

Pay: $21.00 – $23.00 per hour (DOE) Schedule: 1st Shift | Monday–Friday | 6:00 AM – 3:30 PM Location: Lewisville, TX 75057

Overtime and weekend work may be required based on production demands.

Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Machinist to join our manufacturing team. This position is responsible for setting up, programming, operating, and monitoring manual and CNC mills, lathes, and surface grinders to produce precision-machined components. The successful candidate will be capable of maintaining tight tolerances, interpreting technical drawings, and performing quality inspections to ensure finished parts meet customer and engineering specifications.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Set machine controls to regulate speed, feed rates, depth of cut, and other machining parameters according to established procedures.

• Properly position and secure workpieces using chucks, fixtures, machine tables, centers, and other holding devices.

• Select and install tooling while establishing proper depths of cut and machining parameters based on material and tooling specifications.

• Program, set up, and operate manual and CNC mills, lathes, and surface grinders.

• Monitor machine operation and identify malfunctions, tooling issues, or out-of-tolerance conditions.

• Verify finished components meet specifications using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision measuring equipment.

• Maintain close tolerances of ± .002" on precision-machined parts.

• Perform routine machine maintenance and basic troubleshooting to ensure equipment functionality.

• Install, calibrate, and test machine tooling.

• Monitor tooling for wear and replace as necessary to maintain quality standards.

• Inspect materials and components before machining to verify correct specifications.

• Coordinate with internal departments regarding project status, estimated completion times, and tooling requirements.

• Interpret complex blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications.

• Implement design revisions and process improvements when required.

• Utilize drawing viewers and machine control systems effectively.

• Assist with fabrication of metal and composite parts, fixtures, jigs, and related manufacturing projects.

• Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work area.

• Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Required Qualifications

Education

• High School Diploma or GED required.

Experience & Skills

• Experience operating manual and/or CNC mills, lathes, and surface grinders.

• Familiarity with the capabilities and limitations of conventional and CNC machine controls.

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.

• Proficiency using precision measuring tools, including calipers, micrometers, and gauges.

• Demonstrated ability to maintain close machining tolerances of ± .002".

• Strong mathematical aptitude and problem-solving skills.

• Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to develop creative solutions.

• Self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining quality and accuracy.

• Reliable transportation required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bilingual (English/Spanish preferred).

• Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills.

• Experience with welding, grinding, and general fabrication processes.

• Experience machining metal and composite materials.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while meeting production deadlines.

• Must be able to lift, carry, and move materials weighing 30–70 pounds.

• Ability to safely operate machinery and work around moving equipment.

Work Environment

• Manufacturing and machine shop environment.

• Frequent exposure to machinery, noise, metalworking processes, and production equipment.

• Fast-paced setting requiring attention to detail, safety, and productivity.

• Overtime and weekend work may be required to support production schedules.

Additional Requirements

• Successful completion of a pre-employment background check and drug screening.

• Ability to work overtime and weekends as needed.
