Job Overview

We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Freight Dispatcher to coordinate and manage the movement of freight across our transportation network. Duties

• Coordinate freight shipments by assigning loads to drivers and carriers using transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management and SyteLine.

• Monitor real-time vehicle locations via GPS and GIS tools to ensure on-time delivery and route optimization.

• Communicate effectively with drivers, carriers, and clients through multi-line phone systems, maintaining professional phone etiquette and clear communication.

• Utilize data entry skills to update dispatch logs, shipment statuses, and transportation records accurately in AS400 and other logistics software.

• Oversee shipping & receiving processes, ensuring compliance with safety standards and proper documentation.

• Analyze transportation data to identify inefficiencies or delays, then develop strategies for improvement through transportation planning and analysis skills.

• Manage fleet operations by coordinating vehicle schedules, maintenance needs, and compliance with regulations related to 3PL (third-party logistics) providers.

Requirements

• Proven experience in dispatching within a freight or logistics environment with familiarity in transportation management systems like Oracle Transportation Management or SyteLine.

• Strong understanding of supply chain logistics, transportation planning, fleet management, and shipping & receiving procedures.

• Proficiency with GPS technology, GIS mapping tools, and data analysis to optimize routes and improve delivery efficiency.

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to handle multi-line phone systems professionally while demonstrating strong phone etiquette.

• Demonstrated analysis skills for evaluating transportation operations data to identify areas for process improvement.

• Ability to perform accurate data entry using AS400 or similar enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.

• Knowledge of freight regulations, safety standards, and best practices in logistics coordination.
