What you need to know • Hourly Pay Range $24.14 • Monday-Thursday; 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., approximately 40 hours per week • Full Time, Temporary 7-Month Assignment • Located in Downtown Mesa • Benefits Available – Medical, Dental, Vision What you’ll be doing This role supports the Citywide Heat Safety Program and plays a critical part in helping protect the community during extreme heat conditions by coordinating services, supporting operations, and assisting residents in need. The Program Assistant will work closely with the Mesa Fire Department Emergency Management Team and help coordinate key program components including Heat Respite Centers, Cooling Centers, and the A/C Loan Program. You will be responsible for... • Provide excellent customer service via phone, in person, and electronically • Respond to inquiries and assist community members with program services • Manage and monitor a shared email inbox • Maintain accurate records, spreadsheets, and program documentation • Review applications for program eligibility and completeness • Track inventory and assist with supply management • Review and process invoices for payment • Schedule appointments and coordinate program activities • Perform general administrative and office support tasks • Assist with light manual labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs • Participate in intermittent outdoor work as needed • Operate a city vehicle for program-related duties What skills & experience you’ll bring to us • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. • Experience working in human services, community programs, or public sector environments, with familiarity • in emergency response or community outreach programs, preferred • Strong customer service experience, especially in-person interaction • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage customer and financial records • Experience scheduling appointments and coordinating activities • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Ability to multitask and problem-solve in a fast-paced environment • Comfortable performing both administrative and occasional physical tasks Want to apply?
