Job Description

The High School Principal is responsible for leading the strategic academic growth and achievement initiatives in the high school. The High School Principal will provide guidance and support to high school staff in the implementation of high-quality, evidence-based instructional strategies and practices while driving initiatives to continue to grow and develop staff.

Reporting Relationships Reports to: Chief Academic Officer (CAO)

Direct Reports: High School Assistant Principals, High School Teachers, High School Counselors, High School Paraprofessionals and High School Support Staff

Compensation This is a full-time, year-round position. Salary range is $112,008 - $162,411 annually, dependent upon education and experience. See a detailed outline of benefits and additional compensation at the bottom of the job description.

Essential Functions

• Collaborate with CAO to implement the school’s strategic plan, focusing on meeting or exceeding Colorado Academic Standards and setting annual academic achievement and growth targets.

• Develop, lead, participate in, and facilitate Professional Development sessions ensuring the continuous improvement of teaching practices.

• Mentor, support, evaluate, and provide feedback to school team members, fostering effective instructional planning and delivery.

• Promote and model effective data use at all decision-making levels to enhance instruction, learning, and strategic planning.

• Foster an inclusive, collaborative culture that values diversity and engages staff, students, parents, and the community.

• Engage with community members to develop partnerships that strengthen instructional programs and opportunities.

• Communicate effectively and support conflict resolution among students, staff, and families to maintain a welcoming, productive school environment.

• Work with the CAO, level principals, and Academic Support Team to ensure aligned curriculum and effective programming across all grade levels.

• Collaborate with the Academic Support Team to ensure compliance and quality service delivery for all students.

• Prepare and present reports on academic performance, activities, and initiatives to the CAO, CEO, School Board, School Accountability Committee and other community members.

• Plan and implement school-wide programs, including Career Pathways, 21st-century Work Skills, and industry engagement initiatives through ICAP.

• Stay informed on current trends and programs in CTE.

• Facilitate regular school team meetings for information distribution, staff development, and strategic goals alignment.

• Utilize assessment data to inform budgeting and resource allocation for instructional programs.

• Provide input into budget creation and manage all fiscal responsibilities required.

• Support the integration of technology into instruction across content areas.

• Collaborate with and support the Assistant Principal(s) and Dean(s) in managing student attendance, student behavior, and school operations.

• Attend and participate in Pinnacle functions to foster strong relationships within the school community.

• Maintain and deepen professional learning through ongoing development.

• Ensure regular and timely attendance.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education, Licensing, and Experience

• Minimum of five (5) years successful teaching experience, preferably at the Secondary School level.

• Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred.

• Experience with second language learners.

Working Conditions Exposure/Noise Level Occasional exposure to airborne particles, fumes, and outdoor weather conditions. Normal school environment with moderate to high noise level.

Mental Functions Analyze, collaboration, communicate, compare, compilation of data, compute, coordinate, copy, direct, evaluate, instruct, interpersonal skills, present, report, synthesize.

Physical Activities Office environment including computer interface. Bend, reach, sit, stand, stoop, talk, walk, and heavy person-to-person interaction with students, parents, peers, and community members.

Weight and Force Demands Moderate physical activity (lifting, pulling, and pushing up to 25 pounds).

Other May be required to work outside of normal working hours and travel for work related functions.
