Job Description

Suffolk, VA - Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Assistant Property Manager to support daily operations of residential communities. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys working with people, and is committed to delivering quality housing services.

You’ll gain hands-on experience in compliance, operations, and resident engagement while contributing to affordable housing initiatives.

Candidates should have at least three years of housing management experience, or equivalent administrative experience in low- to moderate-income housing. A Public Housing Manager or Certified Property Manager designation is preferred and required within 12 months. Strong knowledge of housing practices, Microsoft Office proficiency, and excellent written communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities include supporting operations, assisting with rent collection and delinquency processes, preparing leases and compliance documents, maintaining records, conducting inspections, resolving resident concerns, coordinating maintenance, ensuring HUD compliance, and supporting community engagement. Court representation may be required.

Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills are critical, along with knowledge of financial principles, rental calculations, and HUD regulations (HOTMA, NSPIRE/REAC). Professionalism, confidentiality, and the ability to manage multiple priorities are essential.
