Field Service Mechanic A (Senior Level) Fairfax, IA $36.00 – $40.00 per hour (based on experience) Company Service Truck Provided About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Field Service Mechanic A to join a growing equipment rental operation. This is a senior-level, field-based role where you will serve as a technical expert, traveling to customer job sites to diagnose, repair, and maintain a wide range of equipment. This position is ideal for a mechanic who thrives working independently, enjoys solving complex problems, and takes pride in delivering excellent service to customers. What You’ll Do• Travel to customer job sites to inspect, diagnose, and repair equipment
• Perform advanced troubleshooting on mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, fuel, and propane systems
• Complete preventative maintenance on equipment at long-term job sites
• Conduct services including:- Oil changes and lubrication • Tire and battery replacements • Hose repairs and component replacements
• Identify equipment issues proactively and prevent future breakdowns
• Recondition and replace parts to ensure equipment is safe and fully operational
• Educate customers on proper equipment use and maintenance
• Complete detailed service reports and work orders in a timely manner
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment on job sites
• Follow all safety procedures and company protocols
• Build and maintain strong customer relationships
• Serve as a go-to technical resource for complex service issues
Equipment You’ll Work On• Aerial equipment (boom lifts, scissor lifts) • Forklifts and earthmoving equipment • Generators and compressors • Pumps and other industrial equipment What We’re Looking For• 5+ years of experience working on heavy equipment, construction equipment, or similar • Strong diagnostic skills across hydraulic, electrical, and diesel systems • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics • Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision • Must own a sufficient set of tools to perform repairs • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record • Willingness to be on-call as needed • Strong communication and customer service skills • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs Why Join Us• Competitive pay based on experience
