Job Description
firstPRO is actively seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to join a collaborative finance team supporting a dynamic and mission-driven organization. This is a temp-to-perm opportunity with potential for long-term growth and an excellent work/life balance.
The position will start onsite full-time for training (approx. 30–90 days) and transition to a hybrid or mostly remote schedule based on experience. Looking to interview and hire ASAP!
Key Responsibilities • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts • Prepare and post journal entries and accruals • Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close • Perform bank and balance sheet reconciliations • Assist with preparation of financial statements and reports • Support external audit processes and provide required documentation • Review accounts payable and receivable activity for accuracy and proper coding • Ensure compliance with internal policies and accounting standards • Provide financial analysis and support to internal stakeholders • Identify and implement process improvements • Assist with training and mentoring junior staff as needed
Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field • 3–5+ years of accounting experience • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting • Experience with general ledger, reconciliations, and close processes • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, formulas) • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
Preferred (Not Required) • Experience in nonprofit or higher education environments • Experience supporting audits and internal controls • Experience working in small to mid-sized organizations
