Laborer

Immediate opportunities for energetic maintenance workers to join the efforts of the Anne Arundel County Government. Laborers will be responsible for directing people coming to the facility, general maintenance, and upkeep of the grounds.

Responsibilities include: • Grass cutting • Roadside litter pick-up • Cleaning buildings • Maintaining grounds • Digging ditches • Lifting up to 90 lbs. alone, lifting up to 180 lbs. with partner • Directing traffic/trucks • Acquiring some skill in the use of equipment and hand tools used in the area of assignment • Performing routine maintenance of the facility • Performing routine cleaning, maintenance, and minor repairs • Providing oversight to the buildings through cleaning, painting, sweeping, and trash removal • Handling light landscaping tasks, such as lawn mowing, trimming, and snow removal • Interacting and assisting the public with requests

Requirements include: • Ability to pass a background check • Basic knowledge of maintenance tools and equipment • Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds, standing for extended periods, and working in various weather conditions • Dependability, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
