Job Description
L. K. Jordan & Associates is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to lead and manage all accounting operations across our organization. This role plays a critical part in protecting and promoting the company’s brand, reputation, and financial integrity while supporting leadership with accurate financial reporting and strategic insight.
The Accounting Manager is responsible for directing the Accounting Department and providing financial information that supports informed business decisions and the company’s long‑term growth. Key Responsibilities • Oversee Accounts Payable operations, ensuring accurate and timely processing, purchase order management, and full payroll tax compliance • Oversee Accounts Receivable operations, including billing, cash applications, AR aging, funding services, and weekly funding reports • Manage quarterly and year‑end payroll closings and related federal and state reporting • Supervise payroll operations for temporary employees, ensuring accurate weekly payroll processing, deductions, garnishments, and compliance with client‑specific pay requirements • Process bi‑monthly core employee payroll, including commissions, deductions, and non‑exempt time validation • Track and manage PTO balances and related corrections • Maintain commission, goal, and financial tracking spreadsheets • Reconcile bank statements and maintain the General Ledger • Develop, document, and maintain Accounting Standard Operating Procedures • Manage unemployment insurance reporting and compliance • Set up and oversee the pay card program for temporary employees • Oversee new client agreements and credit approval processes • Support annual financial and workers’ compensation audits • Lead month‑end and year‑end closing activities • Respond to executive leadership with accurate and timely financial data • Participate in special projects and prepare ad‑hoc financial reports • Perform additional duties that support the Accounting Department and company objectives Knowledge, Skills & Abilities • Strong working knowledge of general ledger, AP, AR, payroll, income tax, and banking • Solid understanding of financial reporting and financial analysis • Knowledge of unemployment insurance and workers’ compensation reporting • Familiarity with staffing‑industry metrics such as markup and gross margin • Advanced Excel and QuickBooks proficiency • Exceptional attention to detail and analytical problem‑solving skills • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism • Strong leadership and people‑management abilities • Professional, courteous communication with coworkers, management, and clients Education & Experience • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required • Minimum of 5 years of hands‑on accounting and managerial experience Additional Expectations • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor • Adhere to company policies and serve as a role model internally and externally • Demonstrate strong time‑management and prioritization skills • Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently • Must pass pre‑employment and random drug testing • Consistent attendance and punctuality Physical Requirements • Ability to sit for up to 8 hours per day • Frequent reaching, bending, sitting, standing, walking, and stair climbing • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds • Primarily works in a climate‑controlled office environment; limited travel may be required
