Job Title: Contract Divisional Controller (Manufacturing)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Divisional Controller to support a manufacturing business on a contract basis. This role will oversee financial operations for a key division, with a strong emphasis on cost accounting, inventory management, and operational financial leadership. The ideal candidate brings a hands-on approach, deep manufacturing experience, and the ability to partner closely with operations.

Key Responsibilities • Lead all divisional accounting and financial reporting activities, including month-end close, variance analysis, and financial statement preparation • Oversee and enhance cost accounting processes, including standard costing, BOMs, labor and overhead allocation, and inventory valuation • Analyze manufacturing performance, including production variances, scrap, yield, and absorption, and provide actionable insights to operation • Partner with plant leadership to drive cost control, margin improvement, and operational efficiency initiative • Ensure accuracy and integrity of inventory accounting, including cycle counts, physical inventory, and reconciliation processes • Support budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning for the division • Evaluate and strengthen internal controls and processes in a SOX or audit-compliant environment (as applicable) • Drive process improvements within ERP systems and reporting tools to enhance visibility and decision-making

Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or MBA preferred • 8+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including manufacturing and cost accounting leadership • Proven experience as a Controller or Divisional/Plant Controller in a manufacturing environment • Strong knowledge of standard costing, inventory controls, and variance analysis • Experience working with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar) • Ability to operate both strategically and hands-on in a fast-paced environment • Excellent communication skills with the ability to partner cross-functionally with operations and leadership
