Scion Nonprofit Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Nonprofit Senior Accountant for an established community-based nonprofit providing learning services for youth. This is an incredible Full-Time, Direct-Hire, and Onsite opportunity located in Chicago, IL.

The schedule for this role Monday-Friday, 9AM-5PM or 8AM-4PM.

As the Senior Accountant , you will be responsible for ensuring daily operations are executed accurately and timely such as general ledger reconciliation, preparing audit schedules, and fulfilling requests from auditors.

RESPONSIBILITIES: • Process Federal, State, and Local funding. • Ensure that bi-weekly payroll and fringe benefits are allocated to the correct cost centers/programs. • Conduct fiscal monitoring for assigned Community Partners with necessary documentation. • Prepare journal entries and monitor and reconcile general ledger activity as well as vouchers for federal, city, and state reimbursements. • Monitor and update payment details of incoming cash receipts for HS, EHS, and EHS-CCP as well as WIC, HFI, and MIECHV. • Prepare annual budgets, budget revisions, and monthly budget-to-actual reports. • Assist in month-end closing preparation, year-end audit preparation, and other Fiscal Funder reviews. • Reconcile monthly bank statements. • Prepare and submit Periodic Financial Reports as required by state agencies.

QUALIFICATIONS: • A bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance is required . • 3+ years of experience as an Accountant within a nonprofit required . • 3+ years of Fund Accounting. • Advanced proficiency with MS Excel. • Fund EZ or other ERP Systems is required .
