Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Pipe Layer to join our dynamic construction team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining underground piping systems essential for utility services, infrastructure projects, and various construction sites. Duties
• Lay underground pipes using heavy equipment such as excavators, dozers, loaders, backhoes, and bucket trucks to prepare trenches and install piping systems accurately.
• Operate power tools, hand tools, and specialized machinery for cutting, welding, and joining pipes, including fiber splicing and electrical connections.
• Perform utility locating to identify existing underground infrastructure before excavation to prevent damage or accidents.
• Conduct rigging operations for lifting and positioning large pipe sections safely and efficiently.
• Maintain mechanical knowledge of equipment like bucket operation machinery and high voltage/low voltage systems to troubleshoot issues promptly.
• Follow safety protocols related to high voltage, electrical experience, and working at heights such as climbing or using bucket trucks.
• Assist with cabling tasks and electrical work associated with utility installation projects while adhering to safety standards.
• Collaborate with team members on construction site activities, ensuring all work complies with project specifications and safety regulations.
Skills
• Extensive experience operating heavy equipment including dozers, excavators, loaders, backhoes, bucket trucks, and bucket operation machinery.
• Proficiency in utility locating techniques and understanding of high voltage/low voltage electrical systems.
• Skilled in welding, fiber splicing, cabling, and electrical connections necessary for utility infrastructure projects.
• Strong mechanical knowledge combined with the ability to use hand tools and power tools effectively.
• Construction site experience with a focus on safety practices related to climbing, rigging, heavy lifting, and working at heights.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings or schematics related to piping layouts or electrical wiring.
