Job Description
We are seeking a full-time Special Assets Officer with a strong background in commercial banking and loan workouts to manage a complex portfolio of commercial and government-guaranteed loans, with a particular emphasis on SBA 7A structures. The ideal candidate will bring a bachelor’s degree in business or a related field (preferred) or a minimum of seven years of hands-on experience in commercial banking, specifically focused on loan workouts and special assets. Extensive experience with SBA 7A liquidation and repurchase processes is essential, along with a deep understanding of real estate terms, concepts, and market dynamics. Candidates must demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the capacity to effectively negotiate with distressed borrowers while preserving the Bank’s position. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe is required, as is the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment. This role requires a high level of independence, sound judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision in an office setting. Responsibilities include managing loan workouts, bankruptcies, foreclosures, litigation coordination, and asset liquidation, while ensuring full compliance with all bank policies and regulatory requirements. The position also involves monitoring loan performance, preparing internal risk reports, and supporting recovery efforts on charged-off loans, making it critical for candidates to have a strong grasp of credit risk and regulatory standards.
