Summer Internship Program – Risk Management Surge Staffing is seeking a detail-oriented and highly skilled writer to join our Risk Management team as an intern , with a focus on writing for AI systems. This role is ideal for a student or recent graduate with strong communication skills and a background in data analytics or computer science who is interested in how risk frameworks are translated into structured inputs for AI tools. The intern will play a key role in drafting, refining, and structuring risk-related content so it can be effectively used by both human stakeholders and AI systems. This is a full-time (Monday - Friday) On-Site position that is for Surge Staffing HQ located in Columbus, Ohio. Key Responsibilities Draft, edit, and structure risk documentation for use in AI systems, including prompts, guidelines, and structured inputs Translate risk policies, frameworks, and assessments into formats that are clear, consistent, and machine-readable Develop and refine prompts and instructions used in AI tools to support risk analysis and decision-making Collaborate with risk, data, and engineering teams to ensure accurate interpretation of risk concepts in AI workflows Analyze outputs from AI systems and refine inputs/prompts to improve clarity, accuracy, and reliability Support the documentation of AI-related risks, including bias, data quality, and model limitations Create clear written summaries of technical findings for non-technical audiences Research best practices in AI communication, prompt engineering, and AI governance Qualifications Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Communications, English, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field Exceptional writing, editing, and structuring skills, with strong attention to clarity and precision Ability to write for both human audiences and AI systems (structured, unambiguous, and logically organized content) Basic understanding of data analytics, programming, or AI/ML concepts Strong critical thinking skills and ability to interpret complex or abstract concepts Excellent verbal communication and collaboration abilities High attention to detail and ability to follow structured formats and guidelines Preferred Skills Experience with prompt writing or prompt engineering for AI tools Familiarity with structured data formats (e.g., JSON, YAML) or technical documentation Exposure to AI/ML systems, natural language processing, or automation tools Experience reviewing or improving AI-generated outputs Understanding of risk management, compliance, or governance frameworks What You’ll Gain Hands-on experience at the intersection of risk management, AI, and communication Practical skills in writing and structuring content for AI systems Exposure to AI governance, prompt engineering, and model risk considerations Opportunity to work cross-functionally with risk, data, and technology teams EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER: Surge is an equal opportunity employer.
