Senior File Transfer Operations Support Engineer
Location: Charlotte, NC; Minneapolis, MN; Chandler, AZ; Dallas, TX
Hybrid: 3 days onsite, 2 days remote
Duration: 12-month contract with strong potential for extension
Our client, a leading U.S.-based financial services institution, is seeking a skilled Senior File Transfer Operations Support Engineer (SOE4) to lead complex, high-impact initiatives and provide advanced engineering support for enterprise file transfer platforms.
This role focuses on managed file transfer (MFT) platforms, infrastructure engineering, and secure data movement, with an emphasis on technical leadership, system design, and advanced troubleshooting. You will play a key role in improving system resilience, driving operational excellence, and supporting mission-critical data exchange services.
Core Responsibilities • Lead complex, broad-impact initiatives and provide high-level systems consultation to technology teams • Act as a key participant in large-scale planning of infrastructure and network systems within Systems Operations • Review and analyze complex technical challenges and escalated support issues across core business platforms • Evaluate and implement system improvements, enhancements, and periodic system reviews • Make decisions on technical changes, design approaches, and infrastructure enhancements • Consult with engineering teams on change design, ensuring alignment with technical standards and controls • Collaborate with senior engineers, peers, and leadership to resolve issues and achieve organizational goals • Drive long-term solutions to prevent recurring issues and improve platform stability
Key Responsibilities (Operations & Platform Support) • Provide L2/L3 operational support for managed file transfer platforms, including: • Axway SecureTransport (AXST) • Connect:Direct (NDM) • Secure Proxy or similar tools • Review and respond to monitoring alerts and ServiceNow incidents within defined SLA timelines • Execute runbook-driven tasks such as service restarts, workflow checks, certificate renewals, and request validations • Lead incident triage, troubleshooting, and escalation for complex issues • Perform root cause analysis and implement permanent fixes • Monitor platform health, performance, and system stability • Maintain and update runbooks, documentation, and operational procedures • Participate in daily operations calls and collaborate with cross-functional teams • Follow and execute change management processes (ServiceNow Changes, CTASKs, SCTASKs) • Drive operational improvements and reduce manual effort through automation and standardization
Required Qualifications • 5+ years of Systems Engineering, Technology Infrastructure Engineering, or related experience • Strong technical troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills • Experience handling escalated production issues in enterprise environments • Experience with monitoring tools such as Splunk, AppDynamics, Grafana, or Prometheus • Ability to interact with all levels of an organization, including leadership • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills • Experience supporting large-scale applications or infrastructure platforms
Preferred (Desired) Skills • Experience with secure transfer protocols such as HTTPS and SSH • Experience reviewing and managing certificates and encrypted data transfer workflows • Exposure to managed file transfer tools: • Axway SecureTransport (AXST) • Connect:Direct (NDM) • SFTP platforms • Strong understanding of networking concepts: • TCP/IP • Ports and connectivity testing • File transfer protocols (FTP/SFTP) • Experience documenting technical solutions, incident summaries, and operational procedures • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (preferred, not required)
