Job Title: Cabinet Maker Job Description
Under general supervision, this role prepares, applies, and touches up finishes on aircraft furniture in accordance with aircraft specifications and design or engineering drawings. The Cabinet Maker performs complex, high-quality repairs to finished surfaces both in the shop and on-board aircraft, using spray equipment and other manual and mechanical methods. This position interprets material specifications to ensure that the finished product meets design and engineering requirements with exceptional quality and detail, while coordinating closely with the design team to ensure compliance with customer-approved design samples. The role also supports continuous improvement initiatives, mentors and trains other technicians, and actively promotes a safe, organized work environment.
Responsibilities • Prepare, apply, and touch up finishes on aircraft furniture following aircraft specifications and design or engineering drawings. • Perform complex, high-quality repairs to finished surfaces of aircraft furniture in the shop and on-board aircraft. • Apply finishes to furniture using spray equipment and other manual and mechanical methods. • Interpret material specifications to ensure the finished product meets design and engineering requirements with a high level of quality and detail. • Coordinate with the design group to ensure finishes comply with customer-approved design samples. • Champion and comply with safety standards, 5S principles, and housekeeping practices. • Ensure proper protection of aircraft interiors throughout all finishing and repair activities. • Mentor and train lesser-skilled technicians and cabinet finishers, providing guidance, assistance, and direction on projects. • Assist leads by overseeing projects, monitoring progress, and supporting team members to achieve quality and schedule objectives. • Develop and implement process improvements that enhance safety, reduce cost, minimize cycle time, and lower man-hours using Lean Six Sigma tools. • Utilize the material tracking system to create parts demand, track discrepancies or squawks, and sign off completed work. • Contribute to initiatives that support organizational goals, including quality, safety, efficiency, and on-time delivery. • Read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings to plan and execute cabinetry and finishing tasks. • Perform cabinetry and woodworking tasks such as carpentry, cabinet assembly, and cabinet making for aircraft interiors. Essential Skills • High School Diploma or GED. • For Cabinet Maker II: Minimum of 2 years of experience in cabinetmaking. • For Cabinet Maker IV: Minimum of 4 years of experience in cabinetmaking. • Advanced knowledge of cabinet finishing processes and products. • Strong carpentry and cabinetry skills, including assembly and woodworking. • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and design or engineering drawings. • Ability to perform high-quality finishing and touch-up work using spray equipment and manual or mechanical methods. • Capability to interpret material specifications and ensure compliance with design and engineering requirements. • Experience mentoring and training other technicians or cabinet finishers. • Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma tools for process improvement. • Ability to use a material tracking system to create parts demand, track issues, and sign off work. • Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality finishes. • Strong focus on safety, housekeeping, and 5S principles. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience in the aerospace industry is preferred. • Demonstrated ability to coordinate with design teams to align finishes with customer-approved samples. • Experience working on finished surfaces in both shop and on-board environments. • Comfort working on process improvement initiatives that reduce cost, cycle time, and man-hours. • Ability to guide and support project teams in a collaborative environment. • Strong problem-solving skills when addressing finishing defects or squawks. • Reliability in following organizational goals and standards for quality and safety. Work Environment
This role is based in a non-climate-controlled work environment, where you will work in shop areas and on-board aircraft interiors. You will regularly use spray equipment, manual and mechanical finishing tools, and a material tracking system to manage parts and work orders. The setting emphasizes safety, 5S, and housekeeping, with a focus on protecting aircraft interiors and maintaining an organized workspace. You should be comfortable working in varying temperatures and conditions typical of a production or hangar environment and adhering to any required attire or protective equipment appropriate for woodworking, finishing, and aerospace shop activities.

The pay range for this position is $26.94 - $33.81/hr.
